I know what you mean... Another month and I will feel the wind in my face.......... I can't wait!

I cannot see linked pics on this computer, only embedded ones. I will check it out when I get back to my hooch later.

Oh, I had one that said "10K and 10 miles doesn't make you a biker!" on an old helmet. I loaned it to a bud that was riding to Texas, got to Pensacola and realized he left his lid in Jax. Could not get outta FL without one... Got hit by a drunk outside of New Orleans. Helmet didn't make it, but my bud was OK. He offered to buy me a new one, but I wouldn't let him... Replacing it with a carbon fiber one when I get back.

Man, we have people over hear that cry like little babies because they had snow or very cold winter, in my case it’s that and it’s been apart since Dec, we just can’t wait till we get in the wind, but for us back here it’s just BS, you and guys like you, know better than us here, how you really want to get back in, I hope I didn’t butcher that up too much, I hope you understand.

You mean you can’t see my ride at the bottom of post #1 on this thread ? ok, if you still have any problems I could always just embed that one, just let me know.

That is his choice and I support that, but I will always wear one. Yes, a shorty. That is all I wear. I was going to order one from Carbonfiberhelmets.com but when I found out that they are in Orlando and they will do a custom fitting, I will just swing over there when I go down to see my Mom. Carbon/Kevlar and Leather Ear Pads are available on all helmets, (I like the site) I like the ear pads they help on the super slab with noise and it the cold season, I hope they are quick disconnect type, looks good, I wear a NXT half helmet its strong and light, in fact they list the weight of all models they carry, I can tell you even after a 7 hr ride, i

Default Exhaust update again !

Exhaust update again !

As soon as I knew I had a problem with the front exhaust pipe clearing the EVO style oil filter mounted at the bottom of the front jug and down the side of the right front engine, I called S&S, since I got a letter stating sorry for the inconvenience of not getting the 4 qts of Modile V Twin synthetic oil with the engine, It had the guys name and title on it, I called the number and it was a direct line to his office, I said we mounted a ’92 EVO style oil filter mount on the shovel, thanked him first off for S&S even making this possible ! (bikers who know the oil filter cartridge in the oil tank, know what I am talking about I ask him what type or brand of exhaust pipes do you suggest ? since I am having a problem with clearness ? he said he didn’t know and took my number and said a tech guy would call me, the tech guy called, remember that engine being made (all black) he didn’t have any ideas that would work, except try cycle shack !

I told him I could, not use this oil filter and cut the aggravation buy using an FX oil filter mount, mounted from the rear of the 4 speed tranny, with a spin-off (the end of the oil filter pointing right at the leading edge of the rear tire, used on a stock 1984 shovelhead low rider, but it limits me to 2 or 3 years of that size of oil filters, and long long will they keep making them ? so being hard headed, I went to see some pipes (screw the internet) in catalogs at my independent dealer he has all the catalogs, we looked after trying on my stock exhaust pipes (yeah still have them) it still doesn’t really come close, but maybe a set of ’66 to ’69 FL-FLH pipes ! since the front pipe come out of the front port and “around the front right frame down tube” ! man it looks like it might just make it, and clear the forward controls. Oh yeah, the brand we are getting, Cycle Shack !

So a set is ordered, will let you know, if not then we make them fit ! cut, add, weld whatever it takes to get it done ! I am really intent to keep that EVO oil filter !

The pics below, one right side shot see the oil filter mounted on the front right side of the engine, next is a pic looking down on the oil filter with a tape showing almost 2” from the right side face of the engine, (see blue exhaust port cap) meaning exhaust jam ! so trying to go around it. (sorry the tape is off a touch, it’s almost 2” out, really 1- 7/8”

I sure hope the Cycle Shack pipes work for you. I didn't have any of these issues. Then again, I did not move my filter to the front either. My filter is aft of the tranny, sounds like the FX set up. The FX and the FLT had many similarities, actually, so that makes sense to me.

Hay Chief,
".....Then again, I did not move my filter to the front either. My filter is aft of the tranny, sounds like the FX set up. The FX and the FLT had many similarities, actually, so that makes sense to me."
sorry I don't remember did you say your runny a complete S&S engine ? if so, you kept your original oil filter where it came from the factory aft of the tranny in front of the rear tire, just like my best friends on his '84 FXSB final belt drive shovel, that was my first choice to do, if fact I ordered one from hd and you still can get it ! but when I found out from an EVO owner that S&S added a spot in front of the 93 shovel front cyl for an EVO style oil filter mount, I wanted to take advantage of it, since I was coming from an 3 year older shovel that only came with the "horse hair" drop-in cartridge oil filter type ! we both know how much that sucks ! almost as much a hemi-heads : - )
So I can just go back and install that type aft of the tranny, as a last resort, but I really like to have this type. I can use all kinds of different lengths of oil filters any year that produced EVO engines (that is a lot) vs a few years hd use that aft oil filter style, but I guess I will go to it if I have too.
S&S put a lot in this engine, hence the hugh price increase from say 3 years ago, new style rockers covers, roller rockers, the whole valve train is base on EVO components from the cam on up, and not too bad 82hp about 20 more than I had.

Yep, I have the full and complete S&S '93. When we installed it, (we meaning my mechanic and just some very small input from me) we stayed with the stock set-up. I was not sure what the older set-ups were, so I cannot really compare. I do know that the old Hair style filters were garbage, but had not heard any compelling reason to move mine to the front. If filter availability becomes an issue down the road, I will burn that bridge then.

I love my S&S. I am so very glad that I did the swap. By the time I am done with all the other things I am doing, my ride will be basically a new bike.

" If filter availability becomes an issue down the road, I will burn that bridge then."I don’t really think that will be an issue, I don’t even know why I put it that way, as for the horse hair filter I used that for maybe two years at most, until they came out with the "cartridge type" drop in, without the need of that metal cyl which held in the "horse hair" filter (no for newbees it wasn’t real horse hair, at least when I had mine : )" I love my S&S. Tell you the truth I wouldn’t ride without it anymore, I didn’t think, I ever would think like that, but after running in the rain on the interstates it’s fantastic, I got at harley years ago, it’s a generic fit type I guess I had it over 6 years maybe more, before a trip I am a firm believer in Rain-X, put 2 coats on it and my goggles, if you haven’t use that stuff it’s great, speed is no problem (if you have very good rubber) the rain hits it and bounces off like ball bearings hitting a steel plate ! never ever had a problem with seeing in the rain, man cars pulled over because it was raining so hard, better for me less traffic ! I have it below my eyes I don’t like looking through a screen at all, the top is just under my nose and mouth (I think) when it comes down just hunker down a bit, in fact I really dont mind riding in the rain, hay your out, you gotta get home, what else are you going to do : - )

A buddy of mine use to run the same thing he has a different one now, but he kept the box for storage crap, I’ll see if the box has numbers on it, I bet you can still get one, I found a lot of stuff still available from hd !if I get the numbers I'll semd you a PM
