Some friends did a few hundred mile ride this past weekend. One of the guys rented a new 17 Ultra, and the clutch failed part way into the ride. I asked if it was possibly just the hydraulic line, and was told it was an actual clutch failure. Not sure what exactly happened, but figured I would post in this forum in case anyone has had clutch issues.
Update, bike is back home but still problems. while cool it runs strong, gets 36 + mpg but as it gets warmer, say after 25 miles, the mpg goes way down and the power goes away as well. Won't accelerate from 60 mph in 5th on level ground. Half a tank of fuel for 55 miles. Took a long time to get to 65 in 5th on flat ground. It is as if the brakes are dragging and the engine can't overcome that drag.
I am about ready to throw my hands up. Wife says bite the bullet and get rid of it however you have to. I say no, dealer or MOCO is going to make it right.
you have my sympathy. But, I always do what the boss said. Why she's the boss.
Has this made the national news ? Nooooo ! We hear about it on the forums when there is an issue rather than not. There are way more out there that evidently don't have issues. This is not at a level where the feds will get involved. H-D is fixing these under warranty. That is what counts under the law. Does it suck for Steve ? Yes, no question about that. In time, the issue will be resolved.
No one has even mentioned the compensator but my buddy had one go bad.. These problems are few and far between . These motors are strong .The best the motor co. came out with yet. I am not worried and going for all aftermarket improvements I can . You cant tell me adding a tuner can make the oil pump go. Adding slipons will make the compensator go bad .. Just my 2 cts.

If he wasn't the first renter, only the almighty knows just how the scoot was treated before he climbed on board.
2140 miles, noticed two spots under the bike today. So I wiped the underside off, it was quite "wet" and dirty. Took a short ten minute ride and I am definitely seeping. I did wipe it down again and will do the ride in the morning once more and take a photo BEFORE I wipe it down.
it doesn't look to be putting out enough to drip, but what I will do is measure the oil in the morning. Wipe it spotless. Take it out for 15 and photo it running when I get home. Hopefully the dealer will be willing to come pick it up
