Default A Fatboy's Second Chance

So I thought I would finally start a thread to document some of my progress. My 1994 Fatboy had the luxury of getting hit last fall in a parking lot. After a long back and forth with the insurance company I got to keep my bike. I will upload photos later.

My original idea was to change the color on the bike from black to a grey (Grigio Telesto) and go with stretched tanks. After I purchased the stretched tanks I decided I did not like the look as much as I thought I would have. I ended up finding a full set of tins for a pretty good deal and were freshly painted.

New Part's List:
Todd's Cycle 10" Strip Bars (Black)
Todd's Cycle Clamp on Mirror
Deuce Style Turn Signals (F/R)
Drag Specialties Billet Venturi Grips
Alloy Art Heavy Duty Riser Bushing
96+ Handlebar Controls / Master Cylinder (Black)
Front Brake Line +2"
Front Brake Caliper Upgrade (2005 Road King)
Rear Brake Pads - Hawk
Updated Fork Lowers (2003 Fatboy)
Drag Specialties Fork Leg Assembly Rebuild Kit
Progressive Drop-in Fork Lowering System (1 1/2" Drop)
Progressive 422 Rear Adjustable Shocks
Replacement Fenders and Tank
Pop-up Gas caps (R/L)
Stretched Fatbob tank (5.5 Gallon) - SOLD

I still have a few odd's and ends to order to be done. I am excited to see how different the ride is with the new suspension.

is that the orig color for the fatboy? I bought a black one because that's what Arnold rode lol. sounds like a nice build. eventually I'll do the 00 up polished lowers but for now I have that adapter bracket on it. are those Todd's bars internal wired or dempled? I like the look of internal wired but don't want to do it, I'm not that patient.

I added some pictures. It is original black. Same as the Terminator bike haha. The Todd's bars are internally wired. I used some shoe string with a nut at the end on it to assist in pulling the wires through. I have done it a couple times now because I wanted to add wire loom to help prevent wires from rubbing on the angles of the bars. Was WAAY easier pulling them through with the wire loom.

I don't want to take the connector apart to snake them through lol. I'm looking at some 7 or 8 inch Z bars or mini apes to try. guess I'll watch some video on doing it. not in a hurry to do it though....my next project is installing the works shocks an extended/reduced angle brake pedal.

I use string and blow it through the bars with my air compressor. Quick and easy.

I purchased a terminal tool for taking the wires out of the connector from under the tank. Was really easy. I plan to purchase new pins since I am using new wires before I finish putting them back together.

Not sure if you have ever checked out Law Abiding Biker before but they have a ton of decent videos of DIY stuff.

That sounds better than shaking the bars like crazy trying to get the shoe string around the sharp angles in the bars. Somebody also recommended using a bicycle brake line, only after I was done.

Finished up with wiring the handlebars last night and also installed the riser bushings.

Figured I would also share a little tool I made for helping compress the springs to get the top bolt back on. I rummaged around the scrap pile and found an old Vw dog bone mount (mount where the engine and trans meet) and only slightly modified it. With the help of a friend it was super easy to compress the spring on and get the threads started

Looks like a cool set up.
I just use a palm ratchet myself.

Thanks, It worked out pretty well. I didn't have my vice attached to my work bench yet so I just tightened the tube back in the triple tree. Was easier than I thought it was going to be.
