Great...thank you for the advice, might not get to it until this weekend.

Got the inner primary back with new bearing in it so should be ready to get it all back together...was a little more pricey than I was expected, but what can I say, I was a fish in a barrel.

Thanks all....look for some questions this weekend

Remember, retaining ring cannot block oiling hole!

As of now I'm going to put in the Baker compensator which I've already got. I also need to check my starter clutch to see if it's janky. I started to have some starting issues at the end of last season...so figured I'd check that (although it did start nicely this morning after a winter of rest).

I'm going to likely need some help and some questions answered as I go through this process, so hoping to find some great advice (worked awesome asking questions on here as I changed out cams).

So to start...I have a couple:

1. What size socket do I need for the clutch hub mainshaft nut? Bigger than anything I appear to have in inventory.
2. Baker recommends pretty strongly (as I guess they would) to replace the chain tensioner with their Attitude Adjuster. Anyone have strong feelings on that one way or another?
3. Anything else I should be considering to do while I'm going through this?

2009 FLHX

Thanks all in advance....
Steve
Recently installed a Screaming Eagle Comp in an 07 Ultra. It was a rush job and the parts were convenient to obtain. Be mindful of the reverse thread when removing the clutch pack.

With the outer primary open and working on the starter, be extremely careful working around the starter pinion gear if you haven't isolated the battery feed. It might take your fingers off!

Use a torque wrench.

Check the stator rubber plug where it exits the inner primary for oil leaks.

This is what I use..

1. Find a reasonably good screw driver with a 1/4 inch blade to be sacrficed.

2. clamp it in a vice with the end sticking up.

3. heat the end with a propane torch until red hot.

4. with a small hammer, gently bend the end of the tip over.

5. allow to cool in air slowly.

6. with a belt sander or even sand paper round the end some and smooth the outside edge.

To use simply hook the seal from the shaft side and attach as pair of vice grips. tap the vise-grips with a small plastic hammer in the direction to pull the seal. You might have to work your way around the seal some to get it out..

If you have the new seal take a close look at it and see where your pick device has to go then work around it a little at a time some of the cheep picks will just straighten them selves out when you pull on them I like the one as shown in the pic that was made out of the screwdriver I did something similar
