No it just gets old reading posts where people talk about something like it is a fact when they really have nothing factual to base it on.

Well yeah, the touring Harleys weigh at least twice as much. That's double the energy to dissipate on a disc of equivalent size. Only so much can be done.

I like the symmetrical look of dual discs, but I'm not sure that that much capacity to shed heat is necessary for a boulevard cruiser. I look forward to trying the new ones.

Unlike tourer riders I don't see a lot of 14s being traded for 15s, I so no reason to even look at a 15

This is a forum and you don't need facts to state your opinion on something. You obviously care a lot about people trying out the improved braking on 15 softails. The fact is the brakes do not have greater stopping power like the Brembo brakes on the tourer. If Harley wanted the softails to have better brakes all they had to do is put the same brakes that they have on the tourers on the softails. I understand you are only here to talk up the improvements to the 2015 softail braking system and my comments obviously angered you. Maybe you can convince someone else (with the facts of course) how much better the 2015 softails are from 14's but with all due respect I wouldn't waste my time or money on a 2015 softail simply because it has 40% less pull in the brake lever.

I couldn't care less if you buy a 2015 or not. I do not know a thing about the improved brakes. My point was, you don't either, yet you are here talking like you do.

Im not sure realistically how much stopping power you need. Its your choice but i feel that the brakes on my 14 heritage perform fine. But than again I dont ride like an idiot anymore either.

Yes I do know because I read it on Harley Davidson website. I also know that if you really didn't care about people trying out the new braking system on the softails you wouldn't have gotten so angry with my comments. Another forum member already posted this but I will post it again because I don't have an agenda and I actually want people to know the facts and for someone that is so concerned with the facts you sure don't offer any. Here are the facts

http://www.twowheelmania.com/2014/08...vidson-models/

"A new braking system for Softail models delivers improved modulation and responsiveness and decreases hand lever effort by 40 percent. ABS is now standard on all Softail models and optional on the Slim. New front brake components include a rigid four-piston fixed front brake caliper with 34 and 32mm pistons coated to minimize initial displacement, brake pads with high-output friction material, a new master cylinder with a higher mechanical ratio, and a new 300mm front brake rotor. The caliper and master cylinder have also been restyled to enhance the looks of each model."

I love that you think I am angry. It is clear you have a misunderstanding of my point, no problem, we can agree to disagree. Thanks for the facts.

Hey Ten, I've been running into your posts since you were over at the VOG considering an Indian. I found your journey interesting.

I love what you ended up with. Not a big fan of the studs, but think the color, smooth wheels, and whitewalls really makes your bike photogenic.

Anyway, I've been riding most everything under the sun for the last several decades and never considered a Softail. Seemed like Harley guys who liked sportier rides went with Dynas and most just went with baggers. Softails seemed to get relegated to those who wanted driveway jewelry.

Wow, was I wrong!

I just recently rode a Fatboy and became an immediate fan of the Softies. I'm only 5'7" so I can understand why they may put off taller people, but the damn thing fit me like a glove. I also LOVED the fact that I could turn it on with things on the seat that didn't immediately vibrate off and splat on the ground. I found the smoothness across the range (while in motion), the tranny, and the engine character were superb. Oddly, revving it while sitting did impart vibes to my hand that I did not notice when revved while the bike was in motion.

The only thing I didn't like about my demo was the severely limited cornering clearance and the useless front brake. Sounds like they've fixed 50% of my issues.

Anyway, just thought I'd say hey and mention I completely get your choice now.
