Default Cam swap tools

I have decide that I am going to go ahead and put a set of cam's in my 2010 fatboy. Im leaning toward the Woods 555 cams. Does anyone have any final input on this? (I understand cam's have been typed about until fingers turn bloody on here)

Also other than a bearing puller, are there any special tools required for this job? I am planning to just buy this

That's the tool you require, but get one for the 96/103.

IIRC, the mounting of the tool plate is different from a TC88 to a 96.

Correct in concept, wrong in application - that tool will not work for your engine. You need to have one that works for 96, 103, 110 engines. The inner camshaft bearings are larger in the newer engines and the 88" tool is not compatible.

Heartland makes tools for each size. I've got the old design 88" tool and the new design 96+ tool. Either works fine in my opinion. Just remember to lubricate the threads on the collet to make things go smoothly.

Also make sure when you press in new bearings to use assembly lube and the letters on the bearing face outboard. You want to press on the letters, not the blank side.

Also, assuming you want to torque things properly, make sure you get a 7/16" and 1/2" torque adapter to attach to your torque wrench. Like these:

Stanley Proto J5114 3/8-Inch Drive Torque Adapter 7/16-Inch - Torque Wrenches - Amazon.com Stanley Proto J5114 3/8-Inch Drive Torque Adapter 7/16-Inch - Torque Wrenches - Amazon.com

Stanley Proto J5116 3/8-Inch Drive Torque Adapter 1/2-Inch - Torque Wrenches - Amazon.com Stanley Proto J5116 3/8-Inch Drive Torque Adapter 1/2-Inch - Torque Wrenches - Amazon.com

Also, make sure you get the service manual for your bike. There are specific details contained in section/chapter 3 that discuss the proper installation of engine components, such as rocker assemblies, etc.

All this assumes you are performing the work through the top end and not using adjustable push rods. If you're using adjustable push rods, there is no need to remove the rocker box cover and rocker assemblies. There is however, an additional cost of adjustable push rods, usually around $130-150.

I was planning to go with this kit here with the install kit (no lifters)

Other than cost removing the rocker box cover, is there any advantages/ disadvantages to adjustable push rods?

Some will argue there's added weight/mass with adjustables. Many people use them though without issue. If they're adjusted correctly, you'll be just fine - I don't know that I've seen too many cases of people using them and having the lock nuts loosen, allowing the rods to adjust themselves.

I believe it's a matter of preference.

If you follow the directions, they work well. Just do not use loctite on them.
Used the HD SE ones a couple of times.
