I have a 15 Slim. I am not a fan of the polished finish of the primary cover, etc. I was thinking black, but that is the norm. And chrome is a bit pricey.
I recently got one of my two Joker Machine mirrors. They are black with a brushed anodized finish. I like my bike to be a little different then the other black Slim that might be sitting next to it. I was thinking about if there was a powder coat that would look similar to the mirrors I would like to add it somewhere else. So lets say there is a color/finish that was like the mirrors. Any opinions or thoughts on how those parts would look to match the mirrors? I know, it is my bike and I need to do what I want. I am just looking for some opinions.
And if anyone has pics of a Slim with the motor chromed out, it would be great to see the pics.
I don't like it. That said I'm gonna show you how much I hate it if you give me the name and number to the guy that does it. Seriously I think it looks great. I want to see pics of the finished product.
Get some samples from the PC guy. Try to get them as big as possible.
You'll find that there are several colors and types of silver PC. Some look great and others don't. The "chrome" PC for example looks milky. Some other silvers have a very plastic-like appearance.
Judging by the photo, I think you are leaning toward a satin aluminum color. It looks great. You could also get a clear PV for a gloss if you want a shine.
The mirrors are anodized. And they are not big. I was looking at all kinds of pics online. There are so many options. I agree some pics the PC looked milky.
Ran into a similar situation with my FAT Boy Lo. The engine covers have what is called a satin chrome which I was told by a powder coater that it is a plating process, he said he would have no problem matching the color but it would have a powder coated look as opposed to the plated look of the original parts. The process that is used contributes more so to the finished look than the color.
With the distance between your mirrors and your engine it may not be that big of a deal, but if you were to put the parts right next to each other you would be able to tell there is a difference in the finishes. Good luck and make sure you share the pics with us when you're done.
