Currently, I have a stock handle Bar and Riser. I am 5'7 and I tend to have get back strains after ride 1 hour or so. My friend suggested to install a new riser if you don't want to spend close to 1K to get new Handle Bar, riser, Break Line, Installation and etc.
After researching, it seems most people can use 4 or 6 inch riser without replacing any lines. I could not seem to find much selection; however, this is what I got.
Drag Specialties 5.5 inch Pullback Buffalo Risers for 1.25 inch Handlebar (Chrome) - Harley Davidson Models
Would this riser work without replacing any lines or extending?
Do you have any other suggested riser that I could use that does pull back 1 or 2 and 4-6 height?
I suggest getting Heritage handlebars. You can get them cheap.
I agree with this frim experience. I had the wide low bars similar to the fatboy in my Suzuki Boulevard. Killed my back and shoulder blades after a while. Now riding a 2006 Heritage Softail Classic and those bars rise and that pain is no longer a factor.
You really need to go somewhere and get fitted for bars & risers to best accommodate you. I'm 5'7 and just ordered a set of Carlini drag bars pretty similar to HD's Streetslammers.
It depends on your budget. You can definitely put on new fitted bars and
risers and get a great fit. I did not have that in my budget. I am 5'7" and
had the same problem. I figured I would start cheap with parts I could resell
if It did not get the result I wanted.
I bought 4.5" pullback risers off of Craigslist for under $100.00. Installed
them myself and then went for a few short rides readjusting the handlebar
position each time until I got the one that felt the best.
You would be amazed at how much a short riser with the bars re-positioned
will make a difference on your comfort. They don;t look like much at 4.5"
but with the bars set different it worked for me. If it had not worked then all
I had to do was put them back on Craigslist. Did not have to worry about cables.
I put a similar set of risers on my Fatboy and it made a big difference. I might look into a set of Heritage bars in the future, but I agree - a small change in the risers and / or handlebar position can make for a much more comfortable ride.
