I bought a Bassani 2-1 exhaust for my Heritage. It came in today, so I thought I would put it on. I didn't check out all the details before buying it. I need bushings for the o2 sensors. It's not a problem , just a little unexpected bump in the road. Such is life.......I need to do more research when buying new stuff...Live and learn. I will finish the install tomorrow. Post a few pics and give a ride report. I also had to rob flanges from an old exhaust as the Bassani's don't come with flanges. I am removing a D&D fat cat 2-1, it came with everything. I hope the Bassani sound and performance is good or I will be getting rid of this thing.
I am waiting to see how yours turns out . I was about to hit the check out button when I decided to check the forum. By the way; if you don't mind my asking where did you get your pipes?
Here is the report guys. First I have to admit, I am a dumb a$$, the bushings were there all along. I owe Bassani an apology. I am very pleased with the pipe except for the tip, which I will change. It looks good, is higher off the ground, runs about the same, and sounds so much better. I do however think the D&D is a better quality pipe, but it cost more too. I only have one pic at the moment but will do more later....
Both the Bassani RR II & the D&D Fat Cat are on my list of exhaust possibilities on my '05 Night Train. What didn't you like about the Fat Cat? The high praise I have seen is what put them on my list despite the cost adder. Thanks.

The D&D pipe in this case is the outlier in this case. Most pipes do not come with the flange rings, and some even without the flanges themselves. I know D&D pipes are a bit more expensive, but you are getting what you pay for...the little extras, the better quality, fit and finish. I am in no way bashing Bassani in this case, I have a bike with their exhaust on it; I am just pointing out they are in the norm here....
My HD tech runs the Bassani RR on his FLHR, we took the wrap off the baffle to give the bike a little more bark and rasp. This can be done without effecting the performance of the pipe. Let us know what you think as these pipes are the two I recommend over anything else, and I would like to know your thoughts on the differences....

The sound was the only thing I didn't like about it. I do believe that it is a better quality pipe than the Bassani. just like the sound so much better though. It ran great though, never better.

As I said I believe the D&D is a higher quality pipe. My bike never ran better with the D&D. I haven't ran the Bassani long enough to know yet. I done the same thing to my baffle, lame is all I can say as far as the sound goes. I then bought the most open/loudest baffle they had. It was a tad better but still not to my liking. So I have alot of money tied up in an exhaust pipe that I do not like. The Bassani sounds much better to me but I don't think it's up to par with the D&D...This is all just my opinion...
