Looking for the o ring size on the oil drain plug for a 2005 Night Train FXSTBI?

 

Take the plug down to ACE. Worse scenario pull the primary plug and take that 'o' ring down to ACE.

 

I took my old o ring off and to autozone...it was cheaper to buy this little kit that had a variety of sizes...just a few bucks and it had a shitload of the correct size rings in the kit..

Viton is best but Buna-N are OK

The o-ring is 9/16 o.d. x 7/16 I.d. with 1/16 cross section (thickness).



I get my #013 o-rings at McMaster Carr......

100 pack, O-rings, Buna-N/ oil resistant, MMC #9452K57, $4.13

50 pack, O-rings, Mil-Spec Viton / chemical resistant, MMC #1201T24, $8.20

 

Buna N is fine for this application. Most of the damage on these is done via mechanical abrasion from taking in and out...100 pack will last years.

 

my 2002 fxst uses 9/16" od x 7/16" id, 1/16" thick. I've been using ones from hardware stores for years no problems
