Thats a bummer. Im sooo close to springing for a Dakota Digital if theyll work on an FXLR. Pricey and it takes an engineer to understand the online manual. But Im sick of dealing with it.
Me again. It’s gotta be the wind going ovwr the top of the speedo and heat generated by the LCD (or LED, whatever it is) that causes it. I’m riding as we speak, parked in the sun having a smoke and in a couple minutes the condensation was gone

Im still on this case too. I put desiccant under my consol, but also stuffed the opening.....but with plastic bag, nothing porous. Jury is still out, but showing signs of helping.

I seriously doubt if plastic vs foam will make a difference. My foam is so thick you can't breath though it
Has to be temperature differences like ole_phart said. Whatever it is it really annoys me like hell!
I Bought my 2018 Soft Tail Slim new from the HD Dealership. Have only done 1000 miles now. Always kept dry, indoors, never washed and only wiped down with a micro fibre cloth and some Maguires detailer. Moisture forms around the digital display section, that obscures the display. And you cannot see the gauges. The condensate gets so bad that it beads and runs down the inside of the gauge. Im concerned as the electronics(LCD) are going to be affected by the condensate.Ive also owned many bikes over the years, this being my first Harley. None of the other bikes ever had a problem with the gauges and any moisture.
Ive currently addressed the problem with Harley and am waiting for a reply. It looks like its a problem with all the 2018 models where the gauges sit above the fuel tank.
Im hoping Harley can address this problem. As it certainly puts a dampener on the Harley Davidson Experience.
This just happened the other day? It wasn't any warmer out then when I purchased the bike. I bought it in early April so it's not like it was cold. I've owned several bikes through winters and rains and this is the first one I've owned to have that any (let alone that much) condensation in the gauges/dials.....
Is this a warranty issue? Are they not sealed? The issue for me is it's a lot of condensation and it's right where the information display is, so I can't see my RPM or gear indicator when the sun is at the right angle, it's hard to read even when it's not. On top of having to look down, now I have to put my head way down there to read it heh.
This is my first Harley, and paid a ton of money for it, and having a speedometer not be sealed would kind of irk me, considering my S1KR costed less, and hasn't had a single issue since owning it for a few years. That bike doesn't even drain battery in the winter, it's kind of nuts. I guess I'm not opposed to fixing this myself if you guys have any recommendations for how? I suppose if I can get dry enough air in it and clean t up, I can seal it with silicone or something? It hasn't gone away fully since being there a few days ago when my wife and I went on a ride.
2018 Fat Bob 114 with only 2600km's on her and I just noticed the same problem now that we are in the colder weather up here in the Great White North. I will be discussing with my dealer this week.
