Default Low fuel light

I have a 2008 Heritage Softail that the fuel light comes on between 70-90miles....I add gas and it takes a little over 2 gallons......any thoughts about defective sending unit?

They're junk. Disconnect it, ignore it, use it as a reminder to get gas after another 70 miles. Take your pick.
Use the trip meter and count your mileage. Old school

It was just a sales gimmick to help sell a bike.
'HD has a few more.

My sending unit has be "shot" for over a year. A new one costs approx. $130, thus I now just rely on my trip meter.

I always reset my odometer and that is the final word for when/if I need gas....

And yet, all three of my gas gauges work well. They are consistent and pretty accurate. ('01 carb, '03 & '16 EFI)

My fuel gauge reads full after start-up no matter how much gas is in it for over a year now. Seems like a complete pain to swap out the float. I now rely on the trip meter as my solution.
