When I got my 03, it had the Harley lowering kit.
Frt & Rr (Garbage by the way)
I have changed it back to stock. It still bottoms out,
if I'm even lightly on the front brake and hit a bump.
My 00 never did that.
Is this common ? It's not like I'm 500 lbs or anything (180-ish)
Is the Progv spring kit a real improvement ?
I know in the ol' Shovelhead days, we'd just run heavier
oil in those spindly little 35 mm forks.
This is a highly talked about topic, my 05 had nose dive, once I installed the Progressive Monotubes up front the dive was nonexistent. Handled better and felt more planted. Love the upgrade, I also did the 422s in the back.
Go Progressive 422 on the rear and monotube cartridges up front, and it will be like getting a new bike. Seriously. It's a night and day improvement over the stock suspension.
Once he drops the Monotubes in and follows the recommended spacers for factory height he should be just right, theres pro and cons about weight, but I believe if it didn't make a difference then they wouldn't offer it, I ran the Progressive 30 upfront.
OP, if youcan swing the 422s in the RAP, doit. I have them and they're worth every penny

These are all you need. Best thing you can do to the front suspension.
Yep, those 2 little valves. Drain the fluid...make sure to get it ALL out. Remove the stock springs, put the valves in, put the stock springs back in, refill with the proper amount of 7wt.
You can thank me later...
I would recommend getting the Harley fork rebuild kits since your's is an '03.
They have all the brass bushings & seals you need. They're about $35-$40
for each kit.
I also run Intiminators with the recommended Amsoil ShokTherapy oil
Thank you for all that info
I'll have to do the front 1st.
Then address the rear later. Those are junk
too. I can't even adj em at this point.
I'll look into that. I had a shop locally who used
to get me a great deal & I'd take care of him on
GM parts. He had to close that shop earlier this
year. Just frosts me getting hosed buying Harley
parts
