Question Softail Slim questions

Hi. New to this forum. Should have found it years ago. A couple questions ya'll may help me with.

1. I have a 2013 Slim. Screaming Eagle Air Flow (Filter), Vance and Hines short pipes. I would say Stage 1 upgrade. Thing is, I just received my Title, and it shows the CC to be 1753? My understanding the 103CI for that year is 1690? Could this stage 1 upgrade have increased the CCs? I bought the Slim used with 600 miles and there was no trail of the original owner or dealer. All I know is the MC dealer that I purchased it from said the guy's wife made him get rid of the Slim with 600 miles on it and he traded it for a Quad.

2. How can I track the original dealer that sold the bike? I did a VIN search, but this does not show where the bike came from in terms of the selling dealer?

Thanks for the help in advance.

congrats on the slim! I have a 2015, I love it. My understanding is that a stage 1 only slightly increases the hp. I know you can run the vin on HD's website ant it shows any recall info, where it was built, month/year but I'm not sure about dealer info?

Thanks for the reply. This may be a simple matter of DMV error relating to the CC's.

I ran the VIN on the HD site and got back exactly what you mentioned. Perhaps that is far as this can go.

Thanks again.

A Stage I does not increase the displacement, but a big bore kit does, Stage III.... The 103" twin cam engines are routinely bumped to 107", via a big bore kit. FuelMoto makes a very popular 107" big bore kit for the 103" twin cam. 107" equals 1753cc.... I've never heard of someone going through the trouble of changing their registration/title from 1690cc to 1753cc. You can't tell with the naked eye, the difference between an OEM 103" and a 107" big bore kit, so not sure why anyone would go through the trouble.. but it's possible. Some states like CA, record the engine number on the title/reg. Perhaps the prior owner was a stickler for accurate paperwork...?

I believe any dealer can run the VIN in their HD computer and it will show who the original selling dealer was.... I know I bought a 2012 in New York, and added some accessories at purchase, to get the accessories covered by the factory warranty. Several months and 3000 miles away, I needed warranty work on one of the accessories. The dealer I was at, was able to look up who sold me the bike, and what accessories they installed on it at the time of sale to verify they were covered by the factory warranty...

Thanks Hattiude. I am sure the DMV hosed this one up. I never even thought to look at the CC on the registration, but go figure, it reads 1753. Thanks for the tip on the dealer checking the VIN. I will call the HD dealer that I used for service, so perhaps they can help me out.

What a great forum. Two replies that answered my questions more than my local gin mill packed with HD riders.

Thanks, folks
.

Default ...wait, are you sure?

Are you sure that pipes and an air cleaner doesn't add cubic centimeters to a motor? Man and here I was thinking I can add a dishwasher to my kitchen and increase my square footage.

LOL. so this is why I am asking. Crazy. Perhaps the DMV knows something I don't. But, But (sounds like the lawyer from my Cousin Vinny), Hattitude has a point that the Stage 1 may increase HP but, but, not the CC?

Yes but I also said that a big bore kit does increase the cc. A 103" to 107" big bore kit will go from 1690cc to 1753cc...

You don't know for certain it only has a Stage I.... you can't visually tell a stage I from a Stage III (big bore kit)

I know I tend to be wordy in my responses, but re-read the first paragraph of my response in post #4.... There is a possible solution, that may not be a mistake..
