Look for potting on the walls where the plunger goes, if you have pitting replace the master cylinder.
Ok thanks for the info. Ill have it apart later this evening. If it is pitted, hopefully they will have the housing in stock at the dealer. Ive been lucky so far, since they had the rebuild kit and the banjo washers in stock.
I’m outside removing the master cylinder and looked at the rear brake pads and they looked like they have gotten hot. Will someone please confirm my suspicions or am I just seeing things.
Just for grins, I decided to bleed at the caliper before tearing it down. Got a lot of air and now have pressure at the pedal and will take it out in the morning and see if back brakes work. Holding my breath.
I bled the brakes and there was quite a bit of air in the lines and I took it out for a test ride and they worked. My question is how did air get in the lines without opening the master cylinder or cracking open the bleeders. When I had the brakes flushed last year, I rode it home and they worked fine. The bike did sit unridden for quite a while, and I have no clue how that much air got in the system. Could it be a bad master cylinder causing it?

Thank all of you for your help and advice.
First thought would be an external leak even a small one.
With the pic above I'd want to take a hard look at the
Caliper and the piston and pads for any even dampness.
Even a very small amount of fluid loss can create this
Double ck all fittings and brake lines
Just to know how did you bleed the brakes ?

I bought a Harbor Freight version of the mighty vac that you suggested. Just attached the hose to the bleeder and built up some vacuum before I cracked it open. A lot of air initially came out and then I got a few mini bubbles out.
I looked at the lines and caliper and nothing was wet. The master cylinder was also full. That bike needs some new tires and I think I will take it to Xtreme and also let them install some new pads. Im not sure whether I should take the mc piston back to the Harley shop. My 06 Heritage uses the same part and who knows, I may need it someday.
WP, I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me on this. Now that Im retired and I actually have the time, and its finally cooling down some, any time you want to go riding, let me know.
The rear M cyl is a little lower than the caliper.
If the caliper has even a small leak that's where air could enter.
This would allow for the Mcyl to remain full. Seen before a few times.
Extreme has done me well sourcing parts and have done friends good on fixing their bikes.
