Default Second disc brake for front end

Has anyone ever converted the front brake to a dual front disc brake?!?! Had a touring model and it was EXTREMELY superior to a single, and was thinking about doing that to my 2009 heritage.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions, testimonials?!?!?

Be cautious about it. Lot of safety aspects when you start designing a front brake system.

There's a CVO package however I think that lists factory parts for it.

You might search this forum, I forget the member that did this conversion...
I believe he used Performance Machine slider/calipers/rotors.
I think he used an Ultima wheel with the 2-nd rotor
ready hub... I'll see if I can find his thread...

EDITED AGAIN: The forum member is ThunderTruck and
it appears he did not create a single "upgrade" type thread for it.
He posted most of his progress/pictures in the "What did you do to your Softail" thread...

EDIT: now if you want to "roll your own" or DIY so-to-speak.
What you can do is use the front-end components from the Touring models
since they had dual-disc frontends. You'd need the 41mm sliders, calipers,
wheel.

In either case, (aftermarket parts or HD parts), you will need a Master Cylinder.

I did indeed use the Performance Machine forks and rotors/calipers and master cylinder.
The conversion was night and day for braking. I took the more expensive bling route but you could use Harley components.

Whatever you decide on keep in mind that its not just a matter of slapping another rotor and caliper on and plumbing it up. You will also need a different master cylinder to deliver the right proportioning of fluid to the 2 calipers.

I say it’s as easy as slapping on another hub with place for the other caliper and then a divided block. You could use a larger brake reservoir from anything larger that’ll fit on the handle bar.

If money and effort look like they’re gonna be too great. You could also go to a floating rotor upfront, and a four piston caliper for probably half the money or less. It might not be as good as dual caliper, but it certainly would be better than it is.

This is the route I chose since I also like to run the Heritage "hubcap" on my Slim. I used
a 4-pistion caliper from the XR1200 and a "contour" floating rotor from EBC.
