I just got the Bubba brakes set up for quick release saddle bags. For those of you who did this set up where did you put your z-brackets to support the lower bracket off the bag? Did you use the passenger pegs? If so, what's the best way to get that little retaining clip off without scratching up the bike? Also wonderered about the 4 locking brackets that are included that are to go inside the bag? Do you use them. I don't understand how they lock anything. If you have pics it would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a heritage springer so the bags had their own supports. I also already had relocation brackets on there so there wasn't anything I had to add or change. What do the Z brackets look like?
Do they look like the lower middle two parts in the pic?

*Edit...My system is also a year or so older, so it uses the push pin system...My locking bars prevent the push pins from engaging from something hitting them inside the bags...Only takes a second to put on. I'd use them

I sent you an email. The my z-brackets don't look exactly like anything pictured, but they are most like the lower most two chrome brackets (which are also shaped lik a 'z'). They bolt somewhere on the frame near the passenger's pegs and function to hold the adjustable crowsfoot which is at the end of the long lower supports. Mine is pictured below.

I replied to the email...Those absolutley would bolt the same way as the brackets...

They must bolt the same way as the brackets I pictured..The passenger peg bolts into the frame, actually threads right through it and there is a nut on the inside.I removed that nut and installed the brackets pictures and then put the nut back on....Yours should bolt up the same way....I went to bubbas site andcouldn't finda pic of the item.

It looks like on the right side where the pipes are that the z-bracket would be hard to access if it were bolted inside the peg.......

It should still work even with the pipes....I think..I'm not familiar with the stock pipes on a deluxe...I assume they are like a Fatboy. It might be tight, but i think it should work...You might have to remove the upper pipe to access the space.

I hit a bump in the road. I have to get a 3/8" course screw tap to re-tap the front fender hole as the bubba bolt won't thread all the way in.

Got the bags on finally. A lot harder than I thought. First off I had to retap 2 fender holes to accept the bolts. Removing the left peg to install the z-bracket was a bitch. On the right side I had to turn the z bracket inward to fit around the frame and pipes. I couldn't use the bolt supporting the pipes as recommended by Bubba. Even with that, the lower bracket support claw has to be turned almost all the way out to engage that peg. On the other side, the z-bracket faces out as I think it should, but it fits so tightly that I am afraid it may be too hard to remove and reinstall the bag on that side. I tried as many configurations as I could but found that this is the only one that worked.
