250 wheel kit or bigger ????
Well soon i will be purchasing my first harley. It will be a 2004 softail custom. Now my first mods will be a set of renegade rims.SAS air bag suspension. Exhaust and bars plus a heartland 250 wheel kit. Then maybe some front suspension changes in about 6 months.
Now my concern is with the release of the rocker there will be a lot more bikes with 250 tyres getting around and therefore the visual impact of a 250 tyre may not be that great. So now im thinking 300 kits. Are there any ones out there you recommend. Any hassles i might run into. I understand the ride might start to suffer but im willing to put up with it.I have seen a few kits around but not sure which way to go.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Who cares what others may think, or may have out there. The bottom line is to build it the way YOU want, and the way YOU envision your scoot.
I personally could care a less of how many Crocker's...I mean Rockers get sold or are on the road, if you like the look of the 250, then go for it!
With the 300 sure it will look badass, but don't expect it to be a corner carver...take mine for example, I have a 240 and it's lowered, soon to be installed SAS air system(no bags, all enclosed unit) too, but I scrape floorboards, and exhaust every so often.

little extra input on the bars (no Biggie)
If you go to a 300 you just may want to
go as big as you can on the front wheel
to help you getthat big gyroscope in
the back to react to steering input a
little better.

As stated, the onlyopinion that matters regarding your mods is yours.
As for the kit. I wouldn't go any bigger than the 250. I've seen the 300 kit up close and it looks terrible.
Something to keep in mind... The reason wide tires look so good is that they are put on bikes designedspecifically for them. Most bikes with wide rubber have stretched (longer) frames. Both PM and Heartland's kits are very well designed and do not takeaway the flow of the bike.
Personally, I wouldn't go higher than the 200. It has plenty of meat and we're already seeing trends going back to thinner tires. I'd take some time thinking about this mod. Personally, I did my air ride, lowered the front end, and a host of othermods before finally coming to the conclusion that I like the lines of my bikejust the way they are.
