deuce forward control extensions (to buy or not to)
Hi,
I have an 02 deuce and just set up an appointment to have 3 inch extensions added to the forward controls. Now I am starting to have second thought about doing this. I am 6'1 and have a 34 inch inseam. I thought it would be more comfortable being stretched out more but don't know if this may be overdoing it. Also concerned with how it will look with the extensions on. Does anyone have a picture of their deuce with 3 inch extensions. pros and cons of extensions.
PS am I getting robbed at $300 installed.
RE: deuce forward control extensions (to buy or not to)
I'm 6'3" with a 34 inseam and as far as 3" extension...it is a better fit/feel and definently not too much. I did complete control replacement so I cant help with pics. My shop charged me an hour labor to install complete control kit. hope this helps
Got themwhen I bought the bike from my dealer. Get a discount on any accessories you buy at the same time so a bit of a saving and wouln't want to ride with out them.
Should be able to buy them anywhere that sells accessories.
Just a note for U. On my 03 Deuce the side stand use to bang aganst the primary if you flipped the side stand up so use to do it gently. Never left a mark or caused a problem in the 3 odd years I owned it. My 07 has different primary and theforward contols supports are slightly different and i don't have the problem with the side stand. Could not use my 03 exts though so had to buy a new set for the 07.
One of the best mods I have made and would not ride a softail with out them now.
RE: deuce forward control extensions (to buy or not to)
has anyone else had a problem with the sidestand banging against the primary on the deuce with the 3 inch extensions. I don't really want to have that problem. also is 300 to high of a price. How hard of an install is it to do on my own. How much would the kit cost me and where can i get it from.
thanks for all the replys
RE: deuce forward control extensions (to buy or not to)
I was actually just at the dealer this past Friday looking to do the exact same thing. They kit cost $200 from the dealer and an hour of labor is roughly $85, so $300 seems about the normal dealer price. That is what I am expecting to pay. I am now just deciding whether to do pipes as well while its in there.
I have the Pro-one plus 2 forward controls and it is the best thing I did to the bike. I wrote my buddies Duece without them and I felt so cramped on it. The kit was $967.95 but it looks sweet.
