What a pain it is to install the Fuelpak. Where are you guys putting the factory ecu plug and the fuelpak plug assembly? There doesn't seem to be any room anywhere for the two plugs connected. If someone by chance has some pictures of their install would help greatly. Got my big radius pipes installed today. Just need to finish install the fuelpak and I'll be a happy camper. SE Heavy Breather will be ordered this week!!!!
I dont know about the Rocker, but it was a real pain on my crossbones.
I never looked at the instructions for the Rocker install, but I do have them out in the garage. If you dont have them I can get you a copy or read it and see where they are mounting the plug.
Here is a picture of how mine is positioned on my Night Train. I also opened up the holes on my plate that holds the cpu so that I could raise it as high as possible for more room without going to high to interfere with the seat when it is on.
phatts,
i think most everybody with the rocker has gone with the sert, for that reason. there is no where to mount anything. i dont think you can go by the pic of the train or any other softail, the ecm is not in the same location on any other bike. you may be able to go under the oil bag and mount to the splash guard close to the ecm
good luck and hope it works for you
I have the fuelpak on my Rocker and it was installed just to the left of the battery. Not sure exactly where the ECU plug is located but the FP fits nice and snug where it's at and I can even pull it out easily for any need adjustments. The dealer did say it was a PITA overall, though (maybe trying to justify the ridiculous labor bill).lol
Did it myself and it didn't take too long. The hardest part was, you're right where to mount the assembly. I put mine behind the oil tank and between the plactic cover near the rear fender. I also stuck the siren there too. I had to put a little "gentle" pressure to go where I wanted it to go. I am using V&H big radius with arlen ness big sucker II. Sounds great but people say it too loud but it runs.
Thanks for all the replies guys. I finally got it to sit behind the splash guard like drkenigma1 did. It does take a little persuading to get it to sit in there right. It seems I lost the "gitty up" with the Big Radius that I had before with the screamin eagle slip-on's. But heck they look great and still run nice. The bike use to push me into the seat before and now after changing the pipes and adding the fuelpak it doesn't.
Ok lets change the subject for a minute. A couple of you mention using the Big Ness over the Screamin' Eagle breather. Would someone share the pros and cons between the two?
