Just installed after market chrome switch controls, new bars and grips on my buddy's '07 Softail. After fighting the cheap after market stuff I finally got everything back together. I reinstalled the stock throttle cables which now are a little long and noticed the throttle returns very slow as if the the spring on the throttlebody is weak and won't return quickly like I remembered before the teardown. Is this a cable adjustment issue, could I have not got it back together correctly or are new shorter cables necessary to solve this problem? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks
First I would check the little wedge piece that works in conjuction with the thumb screw,if it gets dislodged inside the housing during re assembly it will cause the throttle to drag. Also at the throttle body where the cable attaches,on my 03 there are possible ways to route the cable.I put mine in the wrong one and although everything fit fine the angle was just enough different to make the cable drag.
Make sure you didnt route the throttle cable through the wrong hole. I know it sounds silly but if you look real close you will see that its possible.
Adjust the slack outta the cables.
Loosen the 2 housing screws on the switch housing...
Still sticky open the switch housing and see if your wires are jumblefukked or if that wedgie thing that sits on the ghetto cruise control deal is dragging.
You did put the idle cable or the one with the spring in its proper hole as well right? It goes in the outter hole and the throttle goes in the inner.
