Get a helicoil. They are stronger than the stock thread any day. Might want to invest in a torque wrench too.

"Tight is tight, too tight is broken"

Next time, put a little blue locktite on the threads and tighten until it is just snug. No extra "reefing" on it.

It made the paint chip off of the outside of the riser so I would assume that It stretched the metal out...dont know if a helicoil would do any good.

once the bolt stops turning (bottoms out), about 1/4 turn more with locktite should be sufficient.

BEST way is to use a torque wrench and get the torque values out of your service manual. (you have one....right? If not, get one)

Call around locally...someone might have a spare black riser around you can pick up.

Im running solid bushings so I dont know if the torque values would apply, being that they are intended for rubber bushings. Maybe I'm wrong but thats just my guess.
