Partially removed my front axle and took some pictures with how I have the spacers etc. installed.

First left side:

Pic 01 - is the spacer, castle nut and cotter pin in the order they go on the axle.

Pic 02 - is looking inside the hub. You can just make out the rubber washer and the metal circle which is is the spherical bearing on which the spacer rests.
(can't get those rubber and nylon spacers out without removing the fender, but they are in there).

Pic 03A - you can see where the spherical bearing is against the rocker, then rocker/washers etc. which you didn't have to touch, then the left spacer for the front wheel (looks like spacer and washer, but comes as one piece when ordered - my old one came apart when I removed it last time and the teflon coating was gone, so got a new one)

Pic 03B - if you have tightened the articulated arm from the brake caliper too tight, that might impair the working of your suspension!

On the right side the sequence is as follows:

Pic 04 - the axle and spacer.

Pic 05 - same as on the left side, you can see the rubber washer and the circular surface of the spherical bearing.

Pic 06 - hub, rocker, wavey spring metal spacer and cut off spacer from the Xbones, wheel ...

In principle all the metal spacers, spherical bearings, wheel bearings, crush tube etc make one continuous metal "tube" through which the axle goes.

Well, hope this is of help to you.

I got no help either from my dealers. No only that, but my local dealer's parts guys actually laughed at me when after they told me it couldn't be done, I asked if I could look through their parts books so I could just find the parts I needed for myself. I love riding over there now and throwing it back in their arrogant faces...
I had it out on sunday and put about 25 miles on it and it rode like a cadillac, my buddy rode along side and was checking it out once in a while and said it looked normal. I got all my parts off ebay from a low miles 01 heritage from the same guy,the fender, axle assm. washers spacers etc, all for $225.00 , except I had to get the 05 thru 07 FLSTSC reaction link bolt, nut and washer (the one on the front of the link) and the fender mounting acorn bolt, nut, washer and rataining pin new from the H/D dealership. Sorry for the few having trouble`s about the front end being too stiff but make sure that reaction link bolt is correct cause the reaction link has a sphical joint in each end similar to the ones in the fender but smaller so don`t over tighten. Thanks

Totally agree about the pipes. I would so love to run something like that but I think it wouldn't work with my new saddlebags.

Thanks, I love em, they are just Samson mufflers on the stock headers. They sound real nice. I'm pleased with how the bike is coming along, just got in a Heritage Softail seat and can't wait to get a nice long ride planned.

I'm looking to do the FLSTS front fender swap on my Cross Bones as well. If anyone has the parts and is looking to sell them please let me know.
