Default mpg question for the Heritage Softail!

hi, new here to the forums. I just bought a '99 Heritage. For those that have a Heritage I was wanting to know at what mileage do you have to switch to reserve? I have to switch to reserve at around 100 miles. I know this can't be right. Any thoughts at what may be wrong? Thanks, B.

Are you just riding around town or on long trips? I have been riding around town and I have about 160 miles on my trip meter at 1/4 tank of gas.

I'm running about 120 mi filling up and it takes raght at 4 gals. Should be a lot better but I have a mikuni carb that's running a little rich right now plus I am a little heavy handed on the right side if you get ny drift. I can see you have open exhaust but what carb are you running? Has there been cam upgrade?

Wife gets between 185 and 195 before going on reserve on her 2001 Heritage. I used to get about the same on my '95 EVO Roadking. Reserve at 100 miles is not very good mileage.

Regards,

Bill

My 97 Heritage classic gets 30 Mpg and I almost always switch to reserve right at 120 miles.

Stage 1 kit, screaming eagles and rejetted. Mix of city and highway both 1 and 2 up.

My old 1995 Heritage would consistantly get 45-48mpg, and sometimes as high as 52. I dont know your elevation, but my jetting was 44 slow jet, and a 175 main using the thunderslide kit. And this was with an Ev-27 cam.

I just bought this bike so I'm not sure what has been done to it. The dealer said that the top end just been rebuilt so I've been taking it easy driving through the city to work and back. Thanks for the replys, B.
