I'm thinking of putting chrome forks on my 09 Fat Boy and was wondering what the difference is between the harley kit that costs $570 and some packages on ebay that cost anywhere from $100-$400?
I bought a set of Harley legs for mine and my brother-in-laws heritages for $120 per set off ebay. They were factory Harley parts, packed in original boxes. Just make sure you get what fits your bike.
You will find that the e-bays is the lower sliders only. Where the harley ones inculed the sliders and the chrome cow bells and the triple tree covers. Just went through this myself after installing the sliders i realized the cow bells and triple tree covers are just stainless steel they stuck out agianst the chrome sliders.
A couple weeks ago I polished the lowers and they turned out really nice. Not like chrome, but nice. Cost about $25 for paint remover and wet/dry sand paper. They wont rust and you can polish out future rock dings and blemishes.
