So i have been thinking about adding a road glide fairing to my 08 deluxe, crimson red Sunglo. i just installed OEM hard bags and am thinking about putting a 23" front wheel with the fairing also. If i did the fairing i would paint it crimson red sunglo on the outside and wrap carbon fiber on the inside to get rid of the guage holes (have a buddy who does carbon fiber) Does anyone think this would look good before i start buying stuff? I need honest oppinions.
I have never seen a softail with a shark nose. I think it would look cool. I would put a stereo in it and fill the gauge holes with extra speakers. You might as well. The only question is how to mount it as it mounts to frame as opposed to the forks like the batwing.
Honestly I don't even like the road glide fairing on the road glide. Depends what direction you want to go with the Deluxe. I had a Memphis Shades fairing and although I liked the function the looks got on my last nerve with trying to go nostalgic so I sold it.
Having said that, if it makes you happy and you like the look, and it can actually be installed, give it hell. There won't be a lot of them around.
thats awesome.. I might go with a 21 inch rim just because i actually ride long distances. whats your take on black spoke or mag rims with the Crimson red paint? i also found the mounting kit.
I have been looking into this for my fatboy as well. Cycle visions kit is $399 and klockwerks is $599 minus the fairing for both. Cycle visions has a PDF on their site that tells the cost and part numbers of all the parts necessary to order from HD for the fairing. I tallied it all up and minus paint/gauges/radio I think it is about a $1200-$1500 project.
You beat me to it! I saw that one too, and thought it was cool. If I remember the article correctly, Klock Works makes a bracket that allows you to use a RG fairing, but they don't actually sell the fairing.....so, you still have to find one. I'd use tweeters in 2 of the gauge holes to accent the regular speakers.
