Has anyone swapped stock Fat Boy bars for 12.5" Chubby Apes? I don’t know what size extensions to get. Also is there a way that I can figure out what size cables / brake line I will need or will I have to put the bars on before I can order the new cables / brake line?
Josh
Been there, done that. 12" extensions will work, 15" if you think you might go with a taller apes down the road. As far as cables, +6 on clutch, throttle and idle cables. Brake line = 50". Here's a handy link for cable lengths. http://www.magnumshielding.com/store...=2003&x=56&y=7
Don't cheap out on cables. You'll end up paying for it in the short run. I use and recommend the Barnett stainless steel.
I just called Wild Ones, they recomemded that i go +4 on the clutch and +6 on the throttle, idle and brake. Could i just go +6 all around? I was just going to woder the braided stainless cables from Harley, are they worth the money?
+6" cables for 12" apes. Another way to get the wires pulled through is use a piece of string fishing line, whatever and tie a nut to the end of it. Drop it in the bars and it will fall out the hole in the bottom. Definitely stagger you wiring and heat shrink. If you use the NAMZ or Novello extensions jsut solder the ends together and they you do not have to worry about them coming apart. They come apart when pulling the wires sometimes which is a hassle. The burly kit ofr 16" apes shoudl do what you need but if you want steel braided get soem Magnums. I can get you all the stuff you need. Pm for email me.

You could go +4 on the clutch cable, but it will be tight fit. Nothing wrong with going +6 on the clutch.
Harley Diamondbacks are no better or worse than Barnetts or Magnams. Do yourself a favor and give Dr V-Twin (Drew or Shawn) a call and have them price up a set of cables for you. They carry name brands and you'll probably make out, price wise, better than dealing with a dealership.
