thanks guys (and gals?)... that was very helpful. the heritage was not the classic. it was, as you stated, the 06 heritage. they are both very nice bikes. the more i research i do for my "H.A.S." (harley acquisition syndrome), the more questions come up. its cool, tho, cuz the journey to the purchase is fun!
I chose the Heritage FLSTI over the Fatboy because of those suble differences that 06 Fatty mentioned. Plus, I liked the fact that these were much less common than the Fatboy. There's not too many of the on the road. I like the silver engine better than the black, and the paint scheme was way cooler! The FLSTI came with a quick detach passenger pillion, so I added a detachable sissy bar. This way, I can swap from two-up to solo in a few seconds. The FLSTI is more stripped down, so you can customize it any way you like.

The more I tweak mine, the happier I am with my choice!

I think that's a common attribute that we all share to one degree or another. You like your fat front end, I like my skinny one. What's right for you isn't right for me, and vise versa. But we both share our love of making it ours, and to hell with what anyone else says.

BTW I love the look of yours, wouldn't want it, but I like it. Ya got a really nice ride, good luck with it. [sm=smiley20.gif]

Forget about the different parts. The biggest differenc is how they fill while you are riding it. You really need to check em out first by riding. Borrow, rent, whatever. To me the fat boy is a dream to ride while the heritage sucked. [8D]
Come on now it's not that bad!
Agreed.. I still say my old 90 FLSTC had a better ride and better handling than my 04 FLSTF. But it had some progressive shocks underneath, where the new bike is OEM. Lowering kit and some preload adjusting helped though.. but essentially, they're the same bike..

Given if you had the same seat and bars, theoretically, they should ride exactly the same. I found the fatboy bars unrideable.. heritage bars on it now, but going with 12" bars sometime soon, I hope. Heritage stock seat is better quality than the stock fatboy seat (for comfort).. setup more for longer rides. Stock fatboy seat is a brick. Put a mustang on mine and would do it again, regardless which bike I had.. studs or no studs. The seat and bars make the ride on an FL with floorboards. The FLSTC (heritage classic), just simply comes with more stuff from the factory for a few hundred dollars more.. I added a windsheild which alone would have been the price difference.. Still don't have a lightbar. Added a detach sissy bar.. chching...

Can ya tell if I had it to do again, it'd probably be a heritage classic?

I think each HD model has its personality,,,, its like when u r going to buy a house ,,when u see it for the first time u "feel "that that one will be perfect for u.
With bikes i feel the same,,,All the models run great and all of them are pretty,,but one of them goes perfect with ourselves,,,At least that happened to me when i saw
my beloved Night Train......

AMEN!!!,....[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
