My dealer has an '05 Softail Springer Classic in black cherry pearl. I like the retro look, and though I've never ridden a springer, I've always wanted one. I'm not too concerned with the 88 vs. my current 96. My only hesitation would be the 5 speed vs. the 6. Anyone out there riding this model?
have an 05 night train that I put springer forks on. glides, rides smooth. no issues with the bike itself. with the 5 speed I'm pretty cozy ridin at 80mph or 85, after that it sounds wound up pretty tight
I had a 2002 Heritage Springer. almost the same bike except the heritage came with driving lites, bags and a all chrome springer. I really like the way it handled and drove,. The front brakes aren't a strong as on reg bikes. Mine had a 95" kit and ran real good but I always felt it needed a six speed when out on the hiway. The 2007 softail springer came with a 96" and a 6 speed. If I was wanting a springer I'd try and find a 2007 or a CVO Spinger. 2007 was the last year they made them. The had both in 2007. The 2007 - 2009 were CVO's. There's a 2008 cvo on the for sale forum that sounds like a good buy. No its not mine.

I know I should hold out, but the '05 is a beauty!
Nuthin wrong with the 05 dude. Harley been makin big twin bikes since 1936.... take ur pick. ****, the FL's been round since 36 when they were all 1200's and 4 speeds. I used to ride the crap outta a 79 shovel with a four speed tranny. I liked that 4 speed over my wifes 6 speed Dyna.
Wanna go older than that you could ride a VL round town, point is, get what you want. Engine size and gear box just comes down to preference
I was never really into Springers, but the one I rode,my buddies '90, rode better than any conventional forked bike I had ridden. That was with the 21" front--the 16" should ride even nicer. Go for it.
I sat on that bike Sat Tony.I assume your talking about the one at Fraizers.Sweet ride. Call me your welcome to ride the Bad Boy or J just bought an 04 FX Springer you can try.I have to tell ya once you try them you'll be over to friendship Rd. saying bye bye to the Dyna. 5 speed is no problem I know you don't cruise at 90. Where's the pics from Sturgis? I'm still waiting.

That's the one Gordon! If it was an '07 with the 96 and 6 speed, it would already be in my garage.
