The OEM air filter is enclosed; sandwiched between the backing plate and the cover with a gasket seal in between and a small air intake. The SE unit has a smaller backing plate that opens up the backside of the air filter allowing 360* exposure to the atmosphere; more air flow. The stock engine comes from the factory very lean to meet EPA regs; restricted air flow and exhaust. Installing freer flowing intake and exhaust systems is usually good for at least a 10-15TQ/HP gain over stock on a Dyna/Softail or 8-10TQ/HP on a touring model. The reason for the difference is because the touring model make more TQ/HP out of the box than the Dynas/Softails and the reason for that is the touring models have a better exhaust sytem than the Dynas/Softails.

The word BEST and Cheapest don't go together when buying parts for Ur bike...
To get the best it ain't cheap.
If U get the cheapest, it won't be the best..
