Default Working on Deuce...need help and advice

Guys I have been doing alot of work to the 2003 Anniv. Deuce..so far I put in a 95 big bore kit, added ape hangers and diamond back cables, moved my foot pegs foward three inches and added some nice switchblade pegs. Also had original Screaming Eagle pipes, tuner and airbox...so she picks ups and runs great!!!

Now I need to do something with the backend. The original solid rim has a good bit of corrosion on it and I am just not happy with the look. I have seen chrome exchange wheel programs, that might look good, has anybody used them or done this. I have also considered having the swingarm chromed and then doing some sort of dark chrome on the rear wheel? I dont want to turn her into a complete chrome throne, I want to keep some black and mix things in a nice looking way.

Or maybe I should get a new fender and put a 200 mm tire on her and then play with paint color, I want to keep the original stretched looking Deuce tank but would change the fenders and just keep the old stock ones, in fact I am keeping all the old stock parts just in case someone 50 years from now wants to turn her back to stock. I dont mind putting some dough into the bike as I have decided to keep it and Harley is not making anymore 100 year bikes nor are they making anymore deuces...just not sure where to go or what to do next and really need to hear some other thoughts or ideas.

So if you could shoot me some ideas of where to head next with it. I will put a more current pic up.

Thanks guys....deuce.

I had my rear wheel chromed 4 years ago and it's still perfect. It cost me $200.
It makes a big difference in the look of the Deuce. I suppose some day I'll look into putting a wider rim/tire on but for now I'll avoid the hassle (and expense).

Cool

I think the fender something like this maybe covers more of the side wall of the tire makes it look lower.

I've got the chromed rear wheel & swing arm, really sets if off. A bullet or billett headlight is an addition you might want to think about. Also, check out the LePera seats for a Deuce. I have the 2-up Silhouette with the inferno stitch, looks really good. Also, got the SE 180 rear & 90/90 front.

I hate chrome, so you'll get no vote on that from me.

I'm saving up for the engine upgrade in Jan/Feb but after that, game on. There's a thread on here about a nearly bolt on upgrade for a 17x6 (IIRC) solid chrome wheel (which I'll powder coat) that'll fit a 200mm tire in the stock fender. 200MM is plenty big enough for me. After that, I'm getting shotgun shocks to lower it, a 23" fat spoke front, solo seat, and paint. Then I'll come up with some clever name for it like The ***** and ride it everywhere.

Ed: Already have a 3" tank lift on it. I guess I should take some new photos of it.

Those are all good looking Deuce's and thanks for the pics and ideas. The Deuce is the favorite Harley I have owned. Since putting the bigger jugs in the increase in torque and power is no small thing.

I cant figure out how to load the pics into the thread but have attached pics of the jugs...I went with the blonde and like the contrast they provide with the black and chrome heads and the black inner casings, the SE Pipes the originals are the way to go as they have a nice deep growl, I would use something else if you cant use the originals, there is also a shot of the apes and rises and cables I went with and then one of the switchblade pegs, these pegs allowed me to take that Deuce engine guard off which I always thought looked a bit funny I used a kit to move my forward controls another three inches forward, the switchblades now give me three different positions I can stretch out on and I have ridden for 200 miles very comfortably, the bars and pegs now allow me to sit back in the saddle and the back of the saddle really supports my lumbar, I thought I might have to get a backrest but not so sure now, still thinking of changing the saddle though.

You can also see where I smoked the back tail lens and all the turn signals, I am using an led for the tail lamp and just picked up an electrical plug and play from drag specialties which has the load equalizer in it and will allow the back turn signals to also use LED and be used as tail stop lamps as well as turn signals.

I picked up a wheel rim, brake rotor and belt flywheel, just have to figure out now how/where I want to chrome them I am thinking maybe some parts with a darker color and some mirror chrome...going for a bit of contrast but not locked into anything. I have decided to go ahead and build this bike for me and will lilkely keep it forever.

Any more pics of Deuces appreciated and I am interested in putting a 200mm back tire on at the least a 180, the fender struts though present a challenge.
