I just snug 'em with a small 1/4" ratchet, holding the ratchet by the head so I don't make 'em too tight. Works for me.

does anyone think the harley shop worries about torque on something like that? for what they charge for a "k" service, you would think they check the torque on every screw and bolt on the bike. doubt if anything gets the torque checked.

I doubt they do on the services, but then again they do it every day. My service manager claimed they do when I asked him about one day, but I am sure that's the company line. Given all the stripped screw threads I have read on this forum more guys probably ought to use them. I was an aircraft mechanic for 30 yrs, everything had a torque value and I used one pretty much every day I wrenched on a jet. We had adapters for air tools as well. It is just a habit for me and nothing ever leaks (yet, knock on wood).

14-21 ft lbs. Keep it on low side. i just run it up and bump it once with my palm but I do a lot of them. This fitting with an o-ring seats metal to metal on the flat face, so it will not come loose. (The o-rings squeezes down into the bevel.)

I use a long handle 1/4 "allen wrench. I also use a piece of the cardboard paper towel roll cut off to about 5" long. I slide it up between shocks (it sticks right there) tight to the bottom of the transmission. I slide the allen wrench thru tube into the hole (my screw has both internal allen and 5/8 external hex) I use a empty gallon oil container with side cut out and cap screwed on. The tube keep oil from getting on shock and running all over the place. Do it on the stand and then roll bike up for a few seconds to get that last drip.
