Headed to paint shop......how does this disconnect?

So Im trying to get everything ready for the paint shop and I am having difficulty with the connector on the tank (as pictured).

You need to roll the complete fuel pump unit out of the fuel tank. It's tricky, but keep working with it and you'll get it.

you dont need to remove it for paining you can leave it, theyll mask it off, i just did that, there is a good youtube video thats shows you how the arm that holds it releases

Here is the Youtube video showing how to remove the arm from your tank.

Note: The fuel lines within the tank become hard and brittle over time. The smallest movement can cause them to crack or develop pinholes. If you're removing the pump assembly, you should replace the fuel lines. You can buy Harley lines at a high cost or use aftermarket lines Designed to be Submerged in Fuel.
