Picked up the tanks from paint today. Look real sharp. I think I could have replicated the job with patio furniture paint, but what the heck.

It is raining, that is what the little spot is!! 8O

Also dropped off the swingarm bushings to the machine shop to have new bushings made to match the pivot bolt. And dropped off the primary cover to blast all that friggin chrome off!!

Slow and steady.

This is what I am reduced to, mocking up the gixxer controls on the tracker bars.

Gixxer front brake, throttle and switches on the clip on bar.

Gixxer brake lever and master on tracker bars with harley switches and twist grip.

Will end up lookin like the set up on the CBF

just so the update is not completely boring, how about a YZ490 street fighter

So I am sittin around staring at the bike. All the parts are at the machine shop and I have no updates. The headlight brackets came in today, but I am not going to take a pic of that!!

So I am lookin and lookin. I notice the exhaust side of the motor has so much chrome I am starting to get a little light headed and I start to throw up in my mouth a little bit. Suddenly I notice that a big section of chrome is just some kind of goddam beauty plate, I rip the freakin thing off and expose all these ugly hoses and black paint!!!! It looked sooooooo good that I started to growl.....grrrrrr....grrrrrr.....grrrrrr, what perfect ending to the night!!!!

Then I started to scream lines from First Blood, you know, when Col. Trautman was callin Johny on the radio, but that is another story!!!!

before

After

This has got to be one of the coolest projects I've seen in a long time. Glad to see there's other people besides Roland Sands that can think outside the box.

I want to vomit when I see overdone chrome and 3 foot tall ape hangers on Harleys. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Personally, I would have went with a Ducati swingarm to have something single sided. That would be sick.

Was curious, looked on ebay, and some of those Ducati arms look plenty beefy enough for a Harley. Ain't cheap, and didn't see any with a shock included; looks like it would be a major project to install, but yeah, would be eye catching on a Harley, especially powder coated to match the frame.

I did consider the single sided arm early in the planning of this bike. The cost of the arm and all the parts was the main factor. I could get a complete set up for the CBRR (arm, wheel, brake, shock, linkage, sprocket, caliper) for around 300 bucks. The ducati parts would be over a grand. Also, the CBRR install, considering the top shock mount, would be WAY easier and well within my ability. The Ducati set up would be a roll of the dice. I didnt want to take the gamble!!!

I think what makes this project so much cooler is that you are keeping it very cheap. It would be easy to build if you had a unlimited budget and your own machine shop etc. but the way you are doing it, something the regular guy can do on a budget is awesome. Keep the posts coming.
