Default 07 softy custom turn signal removal??

Whats up guys, is it easy to remove the front turn signals? I mean I know they are easy to unbolt, but does the wiring that goes under the tank just plug in somewhere or is it hard wired somewhere..I dont have a book yet, so I need some help.. anything will be appreciated.. thanks

Yup, they plug in on the right side of the frame under the gas tank. Simple to unplug if you choose to do so.

If your patient enough you might get away with not taking the tank off.

You do have some access to the harness when you lift the tank but, not much. The harness is wraped kind of tight along the frame and with the cable ties theres little room to back the connectors out from under them. Try Cutting the ties. I did it once by lifting the tank on my 07 which was almost as time consuming as taking the tank off.

On my 2000 I just cut and soldered and used long pieces of quality heat shrink...cannot tell they were spliced.

Yep, just unbolt the front and rear tank bolts, unhook the air breather line and slide the tank back and you should be able to reach it with no problem. I have an 07 softail custom and just did by bars and so forth and had to slide the tank back.

A word to the wise, IF you screw around with the tank AT ALL.
Disconnect the fuel line under the left side before you do anything else.
Its a simple quick disconnect fitting, no tools required, works like an air hose.
But failure to do it before moving the tank could easily result in a broken line.
Bad part is the damn things are only available through the dealers and cost around $60 or so these days, so be careful.

PS if you eliminate the turn signals and leave the plugs open.
Get some dielectric grease and use it to completely cover the exposed metal in end of the plug.
If you don't, in a couple of years they will corrode away to nothing and may even short out on you causing other problems.

You only have to make that mistake once (like I did) to have any mention of tank moving remind you of it.
