Default switch housing paint color?

I replaced the screws in the switch housing with some new button head screws the other day, well I needed to take them apart to install my new vintage grips and they were pretty good and stuck. Shoulda used some anti-seize.

So after forever drilling out the damn bolts and ruining 5 drill bits in the process, the entire time wondering why these damn bolts can snap drill bits and dull them out faster than I can say hello but were able to strip out in very little pressure from the proper sized allen key.

Well in the process one of the drill bits snapped and the drill slipped and scratched the switch housing.

Any one know what kind/color of paint the housing are? I'd rather just spray them rather than buy new housings.

Thanks, now for a beer.

Should be close enough. Spray the top and bottom of the one said. And if it's really that noticeable of a difference, shouldn't be that hard to take the other side apart and spray it as well.

HOLY CRAP! I've replaced many bolts on my ride with button heads and get non polished stainless steel ones. I have used all sizes and loc tite on all of them except for parts like the housings. I'm curious what material they were and if they went in easy when installed.

I used Black Sharpie. What? it's 20 years old. Seriously though, I am thinking about painting them too.

They were just the plan black raw steel bolts and went in easy as can be. No loctite or over torque involved, I was blown away they wouldn't come out. I sprayed them black the night before but that was just the heads and they dried over night and all day so couldn't have been that. Who knows, I'm getting some black chrome bolts and using liberal amounts of anti seize now.

Picked up some satin black so I'll see how that matches tonight once the spot putty is dry and sanded.

my switch housings were chrome. I scratched em up with sand paper and shot em with flat black. Came out great. Got scratched up in the lay down, quick touch up, better than new.

Whenever ya spray something it is gonna be more apt to scratch. The great part is that touch up is easy.

Good luck.
