Can you get a flat screwdriver blade between the ferrel shoulder and the housing and pry it off or a small punch on the inside and tap it out.

Yeah, I tried the screwdriver pry off attempt and it just damaged it more. I also tried pounding it out, but with not a punch. Lemme try that now.

No problem. Fixin problems is my gig. You gunna need to re crimp the cable that popped out of the thingy. Take a center punch and punch the sleeve when your all done.

sorry to see that, brother. That's why the snap rings should be removed. Might be able to slide it back together. I dunno'. good luck.

These should be fairly simple to pop in and out. I've had throttle cables on and off harleys umpteen million times and never had a problem like this. They are just quick disconnect retainer rings, they shouldn't need removed to disconnect or reconnect the cables. Maybe there was some dirt n such keeping it from collapsing. A good tip is to also pull as close to the housing as you can to keep that crimped part from coming apart like yours did. twisting it around as you pull/push helps too.

Default Throttle Cable Removal

I used a small pin punch and a 2x4. The return cable clip was fine but the other I made a new clip out of a piece of a spring. It worked awesome.
