I'm having trouble and need some advice, here it is......... starting yesterday I have noticed no power in my bike. this is while up shifting and cruising, going 60 mph bike is strugling to get to 65/70. while upshifting bike is sluggish and unresponsive. I swore I heard an exhaust leak(front pipe) and changed the gasket, nothing. I removed the air cleaner(K and N) and looked inside carb, give it some throttle and I see gas shooting and engine revs higher but still sluggish. the slide does not move at all but when I lift it with my finger and give it gas its a friggin powerhouse. I was going to open the top of the carb tomorrow and see whats going on inside, maybe the spring is broke or the gasket/diapham is no good? is the slide inside the carb supposed to move when you give it gas?? I'm lost...........
Yes, your slide is operated by engine vacuum, it is supposed to move up at WOT, it may not do it just free revving though. You more than likely have a small hole in the diaphragm.
No, just take your carb apart and examine the diaphragm carefully. Your bike's age, you Might as well just replace it. Better yet, toss that CV carb to a guy with an Ironhead and buy a Mikuni flat slide.
All fixed. the rubber diaphram was torn(don't know how) I replaced it with a new one from Harley........ all is good now............ took it for a ride and I have my power back, even feels like I have a little more now.............

I'll look into the Mikuni Flatside later tonight, thanks Man.........
