The 1000 mile service should involve nothing more than fluid changes, fastener checks and adjustments such as you mentioned. If it now runs differently I'd definitely be asking what they messed with that they shouldn't have. More reinforcement as to why I do my own service.
Down the road, I will be doing my own service, I just wanted the initial "factory" checks and adjustments. I'll be spending the weekend looking for the problem.
Sounds like they messed with your throttle and idle adjustment.
I would check this before i would start screwing around with fuel paks or whatever.....I think this would just coverup the real issue at this point.
I spent an hour this AM going over things. The only thing I found was one crankcase breather hose from the head to the air intake was not pressed fully onto it's tube. When I pulled the football cover to get to the air filter, the screw appeared to have been in place since it was built.
The seat had been removed during the service, I have a Mustang touring seat, and it's fidgety to get it in place correctly, the HD techs didn't get it just right, so I know the seat was off. I suspect it's part of the standard HD lawyerspeak protocol "Disconnect the battery before performing any service".
To make a long story short, after looking for any obvious problems for an hour and finding nothing, I went for a ride, and the issue is gone. Maybe it was just a coinkydink, or maybe the loose breather tube was the issue, I don't know.
