Default Heard a 'pop' or 'spark' while riding

I just got the bike back together tonight after tearing it down electrically. I was riding before and kept hearing a spark noise so I figured a wire was shorting out. The previous owner of my bike added passing lamps and I found a pretty bad soldering job of the wires. I visually inspecting all the electrical wires from the left handlebar switches to the harness at the gas tank and the same with the right side. All the wires checked out and raised no concern. I threw the bike back together and left the passing lamp/turn indicators disconnected. About a mile in as I was approaching an intersection to make a left, I was slowing down and heard a pop again. Anyone have any ideas what I should do now?

do you notice any other symptoms other than an audible noise?
are any fuses blown?
do you smell an electrical burn/charge after the audible noise?

If you have wires arc or shorting out you will blow fuses or resistors or something. Did you check to see if your battery connections were loose? You said you checked front end but if they properly installed lights they would have remove battery connection and it could be loose.

The first time I heard the noise, I was on the throttle and there was momentary loss in power when it would spark. So I checked all the electrical, threw it back together and then just heard the pop again. I've checked the fuses, I only have three working ones, there is not a working fuse in the accessory slot

The wires connecting the the battery are tight, I just redid them last night before I took the bike out. I don't see any remains of where the lights were on the bike either

I just rechecked the four fuses in the fuse block with the light test. I connected the clip to the negative side of the battery and put the pin through the holes on the bottom of the fuses and checked them one by one. With the ignition turn on each one checked out to work perfectly ok. none of them got constant running power with the ignition switch off

Hopefully it is a wiring issue and you can track it down.

When you have a head gasket going bad, it can make a sound just like you describe. Sounds just like a spark arcing.

I once had broken down plug wires that would arc out the side of the wire to the nearest metal object and cause an intermittent miss. Try changing them. Last I saw, a Screaming Eagle set was only around $20.

Does it only happen while riding? If not, fire it up after dark and look for arc flashes.

so...i bit the bullet. i couldnt take it anymore. i bought this bike in june, my first HD and have only put 200 miles on it cause its had nonstop issues. I called my mechanic to have him look at it.

he took the bike around the bike and told me it was the carbs sneezing. got back to the shop and he sprayed carb cleaner on the manifold subsequentially causing the bike to stall. he turns to me and says, yup an air leak in the carbs. hes going to fix that and rejet the carbs if necessary
