There are four small screws on the back ring of the air filter cover. removing those screws will release the filter cover. the filter itself uses a clamp ring to attach to the intake tube. Loosen the clamp ring holding the entire air filter onto the tube, slide it forward and off the tube. then remove the four small screws on the backside of the air filter. the back ring and forward filter cover will separate in two pieces. i would do all of this on a soft towel. use blue locktight when putting the small screws back in.
I tried all of that long ago. See that black circle in the first pic? That's double sided tape that gets sandwiched between the end of the filter and the inside of the cover when the filter is inserted into the cover. Removing the screws and the ring does nothing because of that double sided tape holding them together. Go ahead and give yours a try when you get a chance and get back to me. That sawzall might be the only way lol!!!
wow that kinda sucks don't it! I guess the only way to get the cover off the filter is to try and work it loose from the tape. if the tape is not that strong then maybe twisting the air filter back and forth will break it loose. that's not really a good design eh?

The problem is it's really strong. I've tried twisting, pulling etc and the damn thing won't separate. Horrible design if you ask me. The only thing I haven't tried is heat. I wonder if hitting the end with a heat gun might break it loose. I guess it's worth a try
Can someone with a '13 or '14 Breakout put up a picture of where the stock left mirror is mounted? I bought extensions and my left one doesn't fit. Just wanted to see if they changed the '15. I noticed the mirrors are mounted different on each side. Thanks
After looking at different pictures of the Breakout the '15 Clutch lever, Brake lever and housings are different from the '13 and '14. So I guess I bought the extensions for nothing. I'll have to find different mirrors or extensions.
