You'd better find out EXACTLY what they plan to do before you agree to their doing it.
To reproduce the fly by wire system of the CVO, they would need to add or replace all of the following:
- Electronic throttle grip assembly versus cable grip assembly
- Wiring run from ECU to electronic throttle grip assembly
- Electronic versus mechanical throttle control on intake manifold
- Wiring from ECU to new electronic throttle control on intake manifold
- New software for ECU (assuming your existing ECU can accept it)
- New custom tune (since the CVO software is coded for a 110 versus 103 engine, AND the electronic throttle intake assembly is different in size than on the 103 I think)
-etc
-etc
This is totally unrealistic for a local HD dealership to do.
And, even if they somehow managed to do it, and you had the $$$ to pay for it (WAY more than $1200 to $1500), you'd then have a non-standard bike that would make future diagnostics "challenging" for an HD technician, especially one at a dealership that did not do the work, and therefore doesn't get what was done.
Like another poster has suggested, look for a different cruise control solution. I'm very serious.

Also new bars. The stock drag bars on the non cvo breakout don't have the notch for the electronic throttle control. I can't imagine any harley shop going at your bars with a cutting wheel to notch them out for it. Rather, they will just charge you 200-300 for a new set of CVO bars or equivalent.
I'm liking that exhaust. Top stuff. Where are you based as I wouldn't mind coming for a nosey/listen before heading down the inevitable V&H route.......?

There are other options other than vance and hines. Look around a little.

Yeah - I've been looking through all of the options (and discussions on here) with interest. So far, the V&H Big Radius 2 into 2 is my favourite. I do like some of the other stuff but the only serious alternative contender, for me, is this Akropovic system. But I will keep looking......

Is the Vance & Hines system you are considering a true 2 into 2, or does it have a hidden balance chamber between the 2 pipes?
The reason for asking is that while both configurations will provide about equal peak power, the balance chamber equipped configuration GREATLY improves low rpm torque.
I replaced a non-V&H true 2 into2 system with a V&H balanced chamber equipped 2 into 2 on my last bike, a Honda VTX 1800 big twin, and the difference in low rpm power and torque was profound.

The HD model of the VH 2x2 is a true 2x2 setup. There's no balancing between the two. I know that there's a loss of power with the 2x2 setup, but for the look and the sound, it was a loss I was willing to give up on mine..

But not all the V&H 2into2 exhausts have this setup. Some models, such as Big Shots Staggered, are equipped with the "Power Chamber" and the performance isn't that bad...

To chime in here I was thinking of retrofitting my V&H BR 2x2 with a crossover or power chamber I still need to work out the details but seems like it would be a worth wile.
