Does Tilley's HD in Statesville always have bad customer service??
The reason I'm asking is a friend of mine bought a new bike at Tilley's HD a few months ago and all seemed fine. Then he made an appointment for a full serivce before his vacation with 2 weeks notice telling them he wanted a cruise control installed at the same time. They said no problem!
He took the bike in for his appointment and when he droped it off they said they had no cruise control because someone sold his.. He made the appointment for a week before his vacation was to start just incase something like this happen. They told him to bring it back in the day before he was to leave and they would get it installed for him while he waited. He called the day before he was told to drop it off to make sure they had one in stock for him. They told him they had two in stock. He went in the next day and while he watched they started taking the bike apart for the install, once the tech was ready he went to the parts dept. and there was no cruise control" so they put his bike back together and sent him off on his vacation without his cruise control.
Now I'm wondering does Tilley's treat all their customers this way or is it just my buddy they treat like this??

I can't say anything about Tilley's. What I can say is that I ordered $1000 worth of parts from Carolina HDfor an install and they put them on lay-away under my name with no upfront money and when I went to get the work done it was a one day job as they said.
Your buddy should go to the manager.

This may be the first negative comment I've ever heard about Tilley's either in Statesville or Salisbury. We've bought two motorcycles from Tilley's, spent quite a few dollars on parts and had some service work done. 100% satisfied. I'd rate their customer service high.

I bought my bike from Charlotte HDand have had my bike worked on there a lot and am quite happy with there work and prices. However I do live about half way between Tilley and Charlotte so I go upto Tilleyto buy parts a lot because they often have the parts I need in stock more than Charlotte does. Sofar my experience with Tilley has been good and they give 10% off parts to HOG members. Parts department has been very friendly.
Sorry to hear about your friends experience I would be very frustrated as well. When you are spending good money for parts and service it should be good. In my business of real estate I try to give my clients exceptional customer service and I tend to expect that from everyone I deal with as well.

Been buying bikes from Tilley' since 1999, both at the old Airport Store, the New Statesville Store and the Salisbury Store.
Live about 1/2 mile from Carolina HD in Gastonia, but still have Tilley's do all of our Warranty work.
Have never had an issue with either Parts or Servcie.
Your friend should ask for Don Tilley, and you can be assured that this will never happen again. I've seen Don have a Tech take a part of a bike for sale to get a customers bike back on the road.

I haven't had that kind of trouble there. I'd say someone just screwed up. There are a couple parts guys there that I wonder about... not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. If he paid for it before hand, his name should have been on the box. I've doone that there, and had the box taken to the service department. No problems.
Have him discuss it with Rick (parts mgr) and Toby (service mgr). If he doesn't feel satisfied, then talk to Don. He takes the service very seriously.

HAve had work done and bought parts. Tilley's statesville has to be about the best around. Honest and truthful on everything I have ever needed. Have bought parts at Charlotte too, they just don't seem to stock enough stuff. Carolina HD to me is a RUB shop. too much boutique, not enough real shop. ***'s gave me some bum advice on parts and has had a buddy's RK in for an engine reman about 3 weeks longer than thaey said it would take.

You just got lucky..... their service sucks. Good techs, poor service writers.
