Looking to possibly pull the trigger on a 2015 Sportster 72 in a beautiful dark greyish candy paint. It's brand new on the showroom floor.

In your experiences how much have you been able to negotiate on previous years models?

The price I was quoted seems reasonable, above blue book by about the candy coat, very close to joining the family!

It's very difficult to give advice on new bike prices. I just read of a member who was offered an extended warranty for $1, on a new touring bike, others have been offered various bike extras or clothing. The main thing is to be happy with the deal you are able to negotiate, especially with the bike itself, then ignore everyone who says you should have got a better deal! I learned that with my first new bike back in the 1960s......

I have to say....I like your style! The bike is stunning! Never bought a vehicle right off the showroom floor, feels a bit unreal!

A dealer near me is currently displaying $1,000 off his 750 "Street" machines - which kind of says how much dealer profit there truly is. He also has a '15 "72" on the floor, but nothing advertised off on it. I am sure a better price could be negotiated, including some clothing and/or accessories thrown in. I think it all depends on the dealer and if he is selling the number of bikes that satisfies HD. We have had a few HD dealerships closed up by Milwaukee for not selling their "quotas". I would start with a low ball offer and see what you are countered. Dealers have got to move the bikes or lose their franchise.

I bought a 14 leftover right about this time of year, last year. There were two other people seriously looking at it so I accepted the offer they gave me without question. Who am I kidding? I'm a crap negotiator. I doubt I'd have done any better even if no one else was looking at it. The thing is, I love the bike. I still can't believe it's mine. On so many levels it probably wasn't my smartest financial decision and yet it is one of the things that brings the most pleasure. It would only really be an issue if I were looking to trade or sell it right away and so far there are no plans to do that.

That aside, this is my first bike and I've also come to realize there were probably a lot of other options I should have considered but that's water under the bridge. Are there any other dealers around you where you can get an idea what else is out there to compare it to?

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm in the same boat negotiation wise, I walk in thinking "I got this" and tend to walk out with a "damn they got me" feeling.

Compared a few dealers, kicking myself in the ***, another place had a 2012 72 with 2200. Miles for 2 gs left but I hesitated one too many days!

I go in to sign the papers today, was happy with the original deal I was given (crap negotiator plus stoked to even have the opportunity), however I used some tidbits from this thread and got em to throw in a gift certificate, looking to get a quality helmet/riding jacket but everything has HD plastered all over it!

Pics of the bike to come asap! 2015 72 in I believe the "black quartz" finish

Market conditions vary so much around the country, it's impossible to give advice.

I happen to live near a dealer that will discount everything!

It sounds like a great bike. And if your experience continues to mirror mine, you really won't be thinking that much about the deal, you'll be staring at it in disbelief that it's yours. I still do and it's been a year.

I bought a helmet at the dealership and really wish I hadn't (although try some on so you get an idea what size to order). I bought a second helmet on line through Revzilla and got what I should have gotten in the first place. They review the product well. They've got a great selection, their sales are good and their shipping is very fast. If you ordered it tonight I'd almost bet it would be at your house before the motorcycle is delivered (if you aren't driving it home yourself). I think there are other online dealers who do as good a job too but Rev. is the one I've dealt with.

All that aside, Congratulations. Can't wait to see the pics. Enjoy yourself and be safe.

I've bought three HDs, and each time I was pretty happy with the deal I got. I was the most prepared this last time on the negotiation for my Heritage, which I ended up pretty much right where I wanted/needed it to, along with some extras thrown in.

The reality? I have no question that the dealership got over on me in some capacity. But guess what? I spent all of 5 minutes thinking about that on my drive home from the dealership.

All I care about now is riding! Rock on!
