I recently just put a skull collection derby cover on my nightster and it was pretty straight forward i did not need a new gasket but wouldnt hurt to get a new one anyways, what they told me on the instructions for torque settings are 80-100ft lbs
is there any tricks to replacing the derby covers? will fluid come out? Do i need new gastkets? what are the torque specs on the bolts?
I am replacing the chrome ones with black ones.
thanks
No tricks and no oil will come pouring out.
The gasket is a rubber seal, which is kind of a nuisance to keep in the groove when you put the new cover on. When I did my wifeâs bike I inspected the seal and it was fine, so I reused it. Hasnât leaked at all.
Ditto to what Dave said. Bought a new gasket but did not need it. I had no fluid leakage when I placed the kickstand on a 5lb free weight. The only time I had leakage was when I moved the free weight from under the kickstand prior to having the new cover on and then it was very minimal. I'm a girl and I did it just fine so...............

Ahh yes. I should have mentioned that I had the bike upright on the bike lift! [sm=oopssign.gif]
