good morning,everyone....

i'm brand new here and brand new to the H-D experience as well....

i got a great deal on a sportster a few days ago,but it's a little big for a short guy like me....so i'd like to know if anyone has any info on changing the forward control mod? i have all the parts from the original setup....and i have an instruction sheet telling me how to move the controls front....

so what i'm asking is is there a set of instructions for doing the reverse? something online i could maybe print out? i have basic tools...and my son to help with the project...so i think we could do it ourselves....i'm just the type of guy who likes instructions....

You have the instrutions for installing the Forward Controls. And you want instructions for taking them off?

 

exactly... ...looking at the instructions,they seem kinda vague concerning the parts you are removing... ...example remove the bolts holding part A and replace with 5" bolt #7 ... ...so when i go backwards i'm concerned i'll put the wrong length piece in the wrong position... ...i'd even settle for instructions telling me how to replace the factory controls as though i were just putting on new controls...

Would be best to have the service manual.I guess your going to have to do your best reading the intsructions backwards.I'm sure someone will give you advice here,but in the mean time you might want to give the prior owner a quick call.

 

thanks for the tips....prior owner is a no-go as it's been resold before i took ownership... ....factory manual is doable...i found a place online that can get me one in a few days... ....thanks for the advice...

What year is the bike? I might be interested taking those forward controls off your hands.

Oh, never mind. I see from your profile it is a 2000 model. Won't work on my bike.

 

Make sure to save all your parts for the fowards. OEM HD forwards go for $200 -$250 on E-Bay if you don't sell them at home or here first.

 

Here's a pretty detailed instruction on the install. It's for a 1993 but I think the controls are the same 91-03.
