Cleaned SE A/C Paper Filter tonight...

Default Cleaned SE A/C Paper Filter tonight...
Bikes been choking for air lately, so I decided to be frugal and pull my air filter and make an attempt and cleaning it. It's an OEM Paper filter and figured hell, if I screw it up I will go pick up a new K&N tomorrow. Took the filter to the sink and put some dish soap in my hands and got the suds going and sloshed it around the inside and outside of the filter element. Once I got the suds all going I used 409 spray and the sink sprayer and sprayed water from the inside to the out. Then put the filter in the sun to dry. Didn't take long, 94F here today.

Put it all back together and the bike is purring like a kitten.

In my owners manual, it says to clean it with soap and water and replace it if it gets torn up. I clean mine every 3,000 miles. =-)

Yup, yup. It's one of those damn things I never think about until she starts barkin' at me... Running great today cuz she can breathe again.

How dirty are they with 3 K miles on them?

I would think they would be clean if not ridden on a dirt road.

You'd be wrong. A lot of junk gets up in that filter. Lots of road grime.

Mine was mostly oil on the bottom. Blow by.. cleaned up nice though.

I cleaned my K+N filter last weekend.It had 2k on it.The filter itself wasn't too dirty.I did have very little blow by.Nothing to worry about.Mine seems like she's always purring!
