Can anyone tell me what the actual size is of a #48 slow jet in a CV carburetor? My guess is that it might be .048 inches, but it might be something in a number drill, or something metric. I am a machinist, and have almost every size of tiny drill you can name, but I don't know what the jet numbers represent. Specifically, my carb seems to run a little lean with a #45, and I would like to simply drill it out to become a #48, but I don't know what decimal size that is. I would simply buy a jet, but I can't get one until monday. I have another jet out of a carb rebuild kit, but it isn't marked (it figures!). I'm going to try to measure the #45 I have, and see if the unmarked one is larger. If it is, I might try it or if it is smaller, I might try drilling it out a few .001. I would sure feel better if I knew what diameter a #48 was supposed to be.
