hi all ive been floating around the site for a while, some good conversations about exhausts here, decided to go with the cycle shacks. got a question about oil, i just got back from daytona total trip from there was about 150 miles, and heard all kinds of noise from the valve train when at idle and then as i accelerate through the gears. this happened on the way to daytona as well so i waited until the motor was cool, started it up and took it for a little ride and the noise was back to what i was used to. by the way i have an 08 883. i switched the oil at 2500 miles and am now at 4000. Im running regular harley 20w50. do you think the oil broke down on me? i cant imagine running on the highway with all the wind that the motor could go over the oils breaking point temp? And if you all think it did, maybe its time to switch to amsoil.
It's a sewing machine ya know.... (That's what really powers the bike under those big jugs) Here's what it really looks like inside with an x-ray
Great photo! Glad it's not just me wondering where that noise is coming from and wondering when to add more thread. Mine seems louder than most but I think that is because the previous owner did the 1200 conversion.
check to make sure your intake is tight... if it loosens up it gives off a ticking type sound... i rock Lucas 20W50 and lucas motor oil treatment... COMPLETELY silent up top!!!
hahaha that picture is too funny! i will check the intake, but from what most people say its prob normal, just weird how it got louder after a decently long ride. thanks for the replys everybody!
