What is the recommended position for the Battery Tender + spade? Next to the battery terminal?
Battery cable> Maxi-Fuse> Battery Tender> battery terminal ?
Not really sure what your question is, but the Battery Tender pig-tail should have an in-line fuse in the Red (+) lead. That lead gets attached directly to the positive (+) battery terminal.
The pigtail positive spade. The service manual states that the Maxi-Fuse spade is supposed to mate with the battery terminal. My question is does the pigtail spade take the position mating with the battery terminal or sandwiched between the Maxi-Fuse spade and the battery cable ?

My Maxi fuse cable end and the Battery Tender pigtail end, both have eyelet terminals on them, and both attach to the positive battery terminal. Sorry, I don't know what spade terminals you're referring to.
Right. The terminal spades with the hole that mate with the battery. I thought that my wording would be understood. I'll ask again. Is the battery tender pigtail terminal supposed to be the 1st connection flush against the battery or sandwiched between the Harley Maxi-Fuse and the battery cable?

It doesn't matter.... however it fits best.... it's all the same connection point.
